Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman sent many of his best Gurulatih to set up Silat Seni Gayong in Kelantan. During that time, most of the Gurulatihs lived with Dato'. Their work was only to train Silat Seni Gayong and to teach it whereever Dato' sent them. That's one of the reason why Silat Seni Gayong becomes the most popular Silat style in Malaysia. Dato' Meor created one complete martial art system, and created a group of qualified and experienced Gayong teacher (and fighter) to spread the art all over Malaysia and internationally.

In Kelantan, if I'm not mistaken, the first Gurulatih who was sent to live and to teach Silat Seni Gayong was the late (Allahyarham) Cikgu Ahmad Lazim. When the Kelantanese people started to like him, Dato' commanded him back to Taiping and sent the late (Allahyarham) Cikgu Haji Harun Haji Salleh and Cikgu Awang Daud. After some moments, Cikgu Haji Harun was commanded by Dato' to leave Kelantan, and it was Cikgu Awang Daud alone to continue teaching in the state.

These three Gurulatihs are those who played a lot a role as a Gayong teacher that created Gayong Kelantan nowadays. Eventhough many other senior Gurulatihs also came and taught the Kelantanese, only these three who were full-timer. After Cikgu Awang left Kelantan, the Gayong in Kelantan was already strong enough to develop until now.

Nowadays, Kelantanese still imported Gayong teachers occasionally to teach the true art of Silat Seni Gayong. Cikgu Amin Hamzah and Cikgu Izahar Wahab (Pak Ngah) are among the Gurulatih in Perak that come regularly to teach the young Kelantanese who will be the leaders that lead Gayong in Kelantan one day. From Kedah, of course, the Kelantanese also will never leave Cikgu Awang Daud and Cikgu Majid Mat Isa. These tradition of "seeking the knowledge" will remains in the heart of Kelantanese people forever. Amin...

***Al-Fatihah to all late Gayong Gurulatihs***
