BAHTERA

Saat ini bersama, saat kemudian berpisah.

Tazkirah buat diri sendiri.
Nakhoda & Bahtera

Hai diriku,

Hidup di dunia tidaklah kekal. Nakhoda menghentikan bahtera di pulau. Sekadar mengambil bekal air bersih, buah-buahan hutan, memburu haiwan, dan merehatkan diri. Semasa berjalan, berhati-hati, takut tersepak tunggul. Aduhhh... manakah wajahku.........tiada berpecah sempatkah aku?....

Rintihan seorang pencari;
Shaiful Hakim, Pekan. 28 Jun 2012.

GCP ke Perak (4): Ayahanda Amin Hamzah

One of the most memorable visit during the GCP was, when we arrived at Cikgu Amin Hamzah's house. Perhaps not everyone knows that Cikgu Amin Hamzah is the last Gurulatih who received the Sandang "Singa Malaya" (Malayan Lion) from the late Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman. Cikgu Amin Hamzah is one of among senior Master who still teaching and training the Anak Gayong. It was my Gurulatih, Cikgu Azizan in Labuan who was first introducing me to Cikgu Amin Hamzah.

Our arrival were welcomed by Cikgu Amin, his wife, and Cikgu Asman. The anak Naga Rantau were lucky and even had the precious moment of "tasting" some Gayong techniques by Cikgu Amin Hamzah. As Cikgu Amin said "There are so much Gayong lesson, but unfortunately many refuse to come and learn. Who are the loser?" A Gurulatih must search the syllabus, the art, the lesson, and the secret. There are 21 Malay weapons which must be mastered by all of the Anak Gayong. By doing this, we are not a Gurulatih who teachs only of what in the book. I have been training under Cikgu Amin Hamzah, eventhough not long enough. But what I could say, as long as these old Masters are still here, it is our responsibility to dig deep before it is too late. And I do hope that we'll have more times in the future to learn in a proper place and time with Cikgu Amin Hamzah.

Thank you Ayahanda for welcoming us. InsyaAllah kami datang lagi bertandang! ;)

GCP ke Perak (3): Tok Ulung Kg Gajah

Cikgu Nordin and Cikgu Abdul Rani (Tok Ulung)

Old Master, Cikgu Abdul Rani bin Ngah Unah is known as "Tok Ulung" among of his disciples. Living in Kg. Gajah, he has not only trained his student of the art of Silat Seni Gayong, but also has trained his sons to continue his effort of keeping this precious art generation to generation. Tok Ulung started learning Silat Seni Gayong when he was in Singapore as an army. It was there he met one who later on became one of his best friend. Tok Ulung learned Gayong when Gayong School at woodland was still operating. There he was trained by Dato' Meor for at least 4 years until getting his Red belt. He is close with Cikgu Nordin and Cikgu Sidek.
Pak Sidek (at left, in front), Cikgu Nordin (sitting 2 from right) and Tok Ulung (standing first from right)

Tok Ulung has a son named Cikgu Yeop, and Cikgu Yeop is the Gurulatih of a Gurulatih (Cikgu Faisal) one of my student in UMP. Since we met in UPSI, then everything seems connecting easily. ;) Talking about the syllabus of Silat Seni gayong in Singapore, Tok Ulung said that it was very simple technique. And in Singapore, there weren't yet the name of the Kunci Mati or what.

-I would like to thank to Cikgu Yeop, Tok Ulung and all of his family members for welcoming us. Hope to meet again in the future. Amin.....-

Tok Ulung didn't let us leaving without anything. He taught some Petua and Amalan that could be very useful for the Anak Gayong.

GCP ke Perak (2): Pak Ngah Izahar

Naga Rantau with Pak Ngah

One of the destination of GCP is Batu Kurau, at Pak Ngah's house. In Padang Besar, there are still very old Masters who were among the pioneers of Silat Seni Gayong, but some are retired and others are ill.
In a very simple and clear word, Pak Ngah never hesitate to talk about the history of Gayong.

GCP ke Perak (1): Cikgu Mat Putih

Naga Rantau with Cikgu Mat Putih

Cikgu Mat Putih, or also called Cikgu Mat Jepun, is one of the senior Gurulatih that is still active in Perak. It was started during the ceremony at Kedah last time where I met Cikgu Noriman, his son. We exchanged the contact numbers and alhamdulillah during our Kembara GCP last time in Perak we took that chance to visit this Master. His true name, Cikgu Ahmad Ismail, was called by Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman as "Singa Putih", the White Lion, after he had done amazingly a "menghambur" of (if I'm not mistaken), 21 persons in a line.

Cikgu Noriman, Cikgu Mat Putih's Son

Donn F. Draeger had came interviewed Dato' Meor once. Dato' and Cikgu Mat Putih here in the photo were showing a Keris technique.

The flying kick of Cikgu Ahmad Putih

Cikgu Ahmad Ismail also went to Japan with the late Dato' Meor and a team of Gayong Pesilat to make the demonstration in front of the Emperor of Japan at that time. They were invited to show the art of Silat Seni Gayong to the public of Japanese people and the media.

We arrived at his house very very very late at night. But alhamdulillah, Cikgu Mat Putih and his students were still waiting for us and we had a very good moment there even though in a very short time. After having the discussion, Cikgu Ahmad Putih gave us some presents from him, a poem that he wrote once when he was younger. Even our bus driver, joined us to have the discussion. After that we had to take the leave go back to Universiti Malaysia Pahang. Thank you very much to Cikgu Mat Putih, Cikgu Noriman, his family, and Cikgu-Cikgu of Gelanggang Singa Putih. Jazakumullahu khair and hope to meet again insyaAllah. ;)

And that small boy will always join his daddy's photo with the Master. He he he he he

KING OF FIGHTER (1.0) 2012 Universiti Malaysia Pahang

PEKA5, under the Principal of KK5 had successfully organized the King Of Fighter (1.0) 2012 on 12th May 2012 at Student Centre, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Campus of Pekan. It was a closed competition only for UMP students. That kind of competition is the first time ever organized in Universiti Malaysia Pahang and especially in KK5 of Pekan. The initial idea was to make a traditional-like competition like Silat Olahraga, Muay Thai, Taekwondo or Karate version. But after lot of discussion and meeting with the Board of Juries, the KOF committee had decided to introduce the grappling, throw and locks in the game. Based on the UFC, MMA and K1 style, we manage to make the KOF as a reality. The KOF videogame in the 90's had bring a lot the memories to those fighters. It is a free-style fight and  without rules. But seems we don't want any serious injuries, we make the rules so that every fighters could play safely and wisely without worrying the fatal risk seems all of the participant are the UMP students.

As the organizer and also the Chief of Board of Juries, I would like to express my thanks to PNC JHEPA, Prof. Dr. Yusserie Zainuddin for approving the proposal of KK5 of organizing this event. Also to all of the committee of KOF 2012, who had worked until 4 in the morning, and also to all the Fighters who had shown the great talents and skills with a very professional and sport-spirit attitude. Last but not least the Wasit and Juries who had stayed from 8 a.m in the morning until 12 a.m at midnight. And to all of the guest, the supporters, thank you for making this event even happening with your voice! ;)

The CDs is ready and can be bought from the committee.

Wait for the KOF 1.1 in the next semester. Better game, better prizes! ;)

Menge'Teh" with Cikgu Azlan Ghani

With Cikgu Azlan. Budak kecik  tuu nak menyeeliitttt je keja dia hehehehhe

Cikgu Azlan Ghani is the owner and the editor of the magazine "Seni Beladiri". Last time I met him was in 2007. After that the communication was done only by phone, email or facebook. We had just had a little meaningful discussion about Silat and everything. Thank you Cikgu for the treat. InsyaAllah next time boleh jumpa dalam Gelanggang pula. ;)

CONGRATULATION PROF. DR. YUSSERIE ZAINUDDIN

KIPAS EMAS PSSGM Cikgu Nordin Abdul Rahman, (I'm not sure), Dato' Ahmad Mazlan, Prof. Dr. Yusserie Zainuddin, YDP PSSGM Dato' Adiwijaya Abdullah, PENGERUSI Majlis Adat Kebangsaan PSSGM Cikgu Mustapha Kamal Hj Sharif, Cikgu Chad (Perlis)

Alhamdulillah, Universiti Malaysia Pahang was invited for the Ceremony of "Solat Hajat, Bacaan Yasin dan Tahlil and Perletakan Batu Asas of Rumah Gayong" at Jalan F, Kg. Pandan last Saturday. Among the VVIP was Dato' Ahmad Mazlan who was invited to officialize the ceremony. But we Universiti Malaysia Pahang didn't come only for a simple reason of attending. We came for a new step further for Gelanggang Naga Rantau Universiti Malaysia Pahang. Accompanying the JHEPA Dean, 3 staffs and 3 students, and the representatives of PSSGM Pahang (Cikgu Rahim Masrom, Cikgu Mad, Cikgu Anwar etc.)

Artikel  diambil dari Berita Minggu Online

Since I have been working in Universiti Malaysia Pahang, I was appointed as the Advisor of Persatuan Silat Seni Gayong UMP and also recently as the Principal of the Fifth residential college by JHEPA. I have a chance of being here and supported by one of my workmate Cikgu Zaki of Cultural Unit, in the activities of Silat Seni Gayong. One of the best  UMP's support of our Gayong activities was sponsoring 2 staffs and 2 students for a 2 weeks sejours in France for the demo and grading of "Program Gayong Jelajah Perancis 2.0, Naga Rantau". After that, one by one Gayong activities were approved and supported by JHEPA of UMP. Since 2011 until now, we indeed have made Gelanggang Naga Rantau, at least, a Gelanggang where there is always the programs (almost every week!) for the development of the every Anak Gayong who are the engineering students.

Representative of Universiti Malaysia Pahang:
Cikgu Fahmi, Cikgu Zaki, Prof Yusserie and Cikgu Hakim

I keep a good care of Gayong business, while Cikgu Zaki keep a good care of the administration of JHEPA for facilitate of our movement. But one man behind all of the success. Without his support, our Gelanggang couldn't arrive to a state where we could see now. He is the Pembantu Naib Cancelor, the Assistant of Vice Cancelor, the Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA) of Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Prof. Dr. Yusserie Zainuddin.

Prof. Dr. Yusserie Zainuddin had agreed to receive a "Sandang Kehormat Mahkota Seri Relang Pelangi", which makes him the first academician to receive such recognition from the Federation of Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia for his support to the Silat Seni Gayong activities in Universiti Malaysia Pahang. The ceremony was completed by the Board of National Adat Comitee of PSSGM and the Sandang was put on by Dato' Ahmad Mazlan.

Witnessing our own leader to receive such Sandang in the Adat way, we all feel proud indeed. The award ceremony to our Dean was the Opening program of "Konvensyen Naga Rantau-Gayong France 2012". It is only about 14 days before 7 of my Gayong students from Association Francaise Silat Seni Gayong will come here in UMP for the program that we had planned for them. InsyaAllah, we'll have a tour around Malaysia to introduce the Anak Gayong Perancis and to make the Silaturrahim. InsyaAllah, if we have any invitation from any Gelanggang that doesn't clash with our program, we'll try our best to be there. Please do contact me for any invitation. ;)

The French will pass most of their time in Gelanggang Naga Rantau, at Kolej Kediaman 5, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Pekan. We'll have the non-stop training, grading, gathering with the Masters, gathering with the Alumni of Naga Rantau-Alumni of Gayong Ireland, the ceremony of Mandi Minyak, the Gendang and traditional music class, women self-defense, Sandang Awards ceremony, visit and training at Masters' house, Gala Nite dinner and also the demonstration. Congratulation and thank you again Prof. Dr. Yusserie Zainuddin to support and approved the program. I do hope that we could do something bigger and very special afterwards of Silat Seni Gayong in UMP.

Bertandang Ke Penang

Alang-alang dah sampai ke Penang, telepon Cikgu Haji Ismail. He he he. Alhamdulillah.... sampai juga ke rumah beliau. Dapatlah tengok gambar-gambar lama beliau, termasuklah menerima bengkung merah dari ADMAR. Cikgu Haji Ismail ni bukan sebarang Guru silat. Banyak menasihat, walaupun sambil melawak. 8D Sambil-sambil borak, ambo dihidang dengan Mee Goreng Mamak ala Penang. Perrghhh! ;) Selepas beberapa ketika, ambo minta izin untuk meneruskan perjalanan. InsyaAllah, next time ambo datang dengan team Naga Rantau pula round Penang. He he he. Nanti cek datang Pekan noo, ambo jamu ikan bakor kualo pahang pula. hehehehehe.

"Bihun Ketam"

Since few days, I know no more a good sleep, a comfortable bed and soft pillow. It is because of the horrible season of every lecturer's nightmare : marking the paper and key in the marks! 8) I have to get back to my blog world, it has been a while none updated here in narapatinantaboga. Well just to warm up before a real game, we start with Bismillah and have a nice meal..... he he he. The Crab Curry Noodle restaurant was just a few meters of the graveyard of the Panglima Hitam (Black Knight), the great grandfather of Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman.

We had a visit to the graveyard of the late Allahyarham Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman, the late Allahyarhamah his wife and his daughter Cikgu Siti in Taiping,  and lastly to the graveyard of the Dato' Panglima Hitam. He was the late Daeng Kuning, one of the Bugis princes who fled away all around Nusantara after the fall of their dynasty due to the civil war and the colonization of the Holland.

We are planning InsyaAllah to trace the origins of those seven prince of Sulawesi. It should be quite costing even though with the AirAsia! ;) One of my Bugis Master, Guru Besar Andi Halilintar of Tapak Naga had talked to me so many things about the Bone people and the fighters.  I admit that, the essence of Silat Seni Gayong, which is the Seni Sendi Harimau,  has a lot of similarities with the Bugis pencak silat like his Tapak Naga. Tentritata Arung Palakka, was a king of Bone who was a fearsome fighter of double swords or machetes. There was also a name mentioned by one of my Bugis friend, Arung Matoa, who was believed to be one of the Master of the Cindai techniques.

It's already morning. I have to go now. I still have few marks to be key in, and we have to go to KL for the ceremony organized at Kg. Pandan. InsyaAllah, God willing, see you all tonight. ;)

KONVENSYEN NAGA RANTAU-GAYONG FRANCE 2012
